1. Information We Collect

Simonara collects the following information to provide our gifting assistant service:

• Account Information: Name, email address, and password (hashed)
• People Vault Data: Names, relationships, birthdays, interests, and preferences of people you add
• Messages: Personalized messages you create using our AI tools
• Saved Gifts: Gift ideas and product saves
• Chat History: Conversations with Simon AI
• Purchase Information: Subscription status and payment metadata (processed by Google Play Billing)
• Device Identifiers: Push notification tokens for reminder delivery

2. Device Permissions

Simonara requests the following device permissions to enable core features. Each permission is optional and only used when you initiate the related action:

• Camera (android.permission.CAMERA): Used to take photos of receipts and gifts for your Receipt Vault. Photos are uploaded to our secure servers and are only accessible by you. The camera is never accessed in the background.
• Microphone (android.permission.RECORD_AUDIO): Used only when you tap the microphone icon in Simon AI to dictate a query or message. The recording is uploaded to our servers, immediately forwarded to OpenAI Whisper for transcription, and the audio file is automatically deleted within seconds. Only the transcribed text is saved as part of your chat history. The microphone is never accessed in the background.
• Photo Library (READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE, WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE): Used to select existing photos from your device when uploading receipts or profile pictures. We only access the specific photos you select.
• Biometric Authentication (USE_BIOMETRIC, USE_FINGERPRINT): Used to provide secure, convenient sign-in via fingerprint or Face ID. Biometric data is processed entirely on your device and is never transmitted to or stored on our servers.
• Push Notifications: Used to send birthday and occasion reminders. You can disable notifications at any time in your device settings.

3. How We Use Your Information

• To provide personalized gift suggestions and message generation
• To send birthday and occasion reminders via push notifications
• To manage your account and subscription
• To improve our AI recommendation engine

4. Voice Input (Simon AI)

When you use Simon AI's voice input feature (the microphone icon in the chat), your voice recording is uploaded to our servers and forwarded to OpenAI Whisper for transcription. We do not store the audio on our servers — the temporary file is deleted automatically within seconds of the transcription returning, regardless of whether the transcription succeeded or failed. OpenAI processes the audio as a service provider under their standard API terms and does not use it to train their models. Only the transcribed text is retained as part of your chat history, where you can review or delete it at any time.

5. Data Encryption & Security

All data is encrypted in transit using TLS/HTTPS. Passwords are hashed using bcrypt and never stored in plain text. We use industry-standard security practices to protect your data.

6. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

• OpenAI / Google Gemini: For AI-powered gift suggestions and message generation
• Google Play Billing: For subscription payment processing
• Push Notification Services: For reminder delivery

We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

7. Account Deletion

You can delete your account and all associated data at any time:

• In the app: Go to Settings > Delete Account
• On the web: Visit our account deletion page

When you delete your account, we permanently remove all your personal data including your profile, people vault, messages, saved gifts, chat history, and notifications. Some anonymized analytics data may be retained for service improvement. Data required for legal obligations (e.g., transaction records) may be retained for up to 90 days as required by law.

8. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. After account deletion, all personal data is permanently removed within 30 days. Anonymized, aggregated data may be retained indefinitely for analytics purposes.

9. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access your personal data
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your data
• Export your data

10. User-Generated Content & Moderation

When you use Group Gifting / Collab features, you and other invited contributors can post free-text content (gift suggestions, comments, names). To keep the community safe and to meet Apple App Store and Google Play UGC requirements, Simonara enforces the following:

• Server-side profanity filter: Submitted text is screened on creation. Content that breaches the filter is auto-hidden pending review.
• Report a comment, suggestion, or person: Tap the "…" menu next to any user-generated content to open a report form with categorised reasons (hate speech, sexual content, violence, spam, impersonation, other).
• Block a person: You can block any contributor. Their comments and suggestions stop appearing for you, and they cannot interact with plans you own. You can unblock from Settings → Blocked users.
• Auto-hide on repeated reports: If 3 or more independent users report the same piece of content within 24 hours, it is automatically hidden pending moderator review.
• Admin response SLA: Our moderation team responds to user reports within 48 hours. Reports are reviewed by humans, not automated rejections, and action (dismiss / remove / ban) is logged with timestamp and reviewer.
• Right to remove and ban: We reserve the right to remove offending content and ban offending accounts without prior warning when content violates our terms.
